Yeah exactly.
Play WoW. Even just an hour or two of the trial will remind you how awesome Guild Wars is, relative to MMOs such as World of Shitcraft.

Such faulty logic should not go unpunished.
If you would like to use the Restaurant Analogy for gw. Let us put it correctly.
You went into a Steak House, you ordered a steak, got your sides and everything you asked for that it said it had on the menu. They asked you if you wanted some dessert (Factions, NF, EotN) you said sure, and you again received EVERYTHING the menu said it was going to have on it. Then when you were finished you decided you wanted to complain because your bananasplit didnt come with Nuts, even though it clearly never said a word about nuts, then you said, wait I wanted my banana split to also have some real whipped cream instead of redi whip, but alas, the menu told you it only had redi whip on it.
In summation, you got what you paid for, they have even done some free upgrades, ie Sorrows Furnace. Stop the wahmbulance and go play something else if you dont like gw anymore.

all I have to say is that you guys are so, so spoiled!
ANet doesnt owe any of us anything! you paid for the game, you got the game, that's it. the fact that ANet keeps on updating the game and actually trying to fix some things is a BONUS, yes BONUS!
most gaming companies dont care about their games once they're released, ANet does! and what's the thanks they get from the community? whining and more whining! ironic isn't it...

Some good post here but the majority seem to be a bunch of whining about nothing that provides no point or arguments. ANET has never said GW2 is being developed to fix problems with GW1. It has said that it wanted to add more features that they could not do with the existing configuration, like climb trees. My problem is I have never seen tree climbing suggested that many times in the forums nor do I want to climb a tree, did it when I was a kid and climbed a lot of things in the Marines but not in a game. ANET has stated that GW is a service industry so it is not unreasonable to expect some content added and I think ANET has done this from the beginning with Sorrow’s Furnace, new weapon designs, weekend events, etc...
That being all said I am not about to buy GW2 but I am hope that GW1 servers stay open for a very long time, six more years and I may be finished with everything. I have invested over 2,000 hours into guild wars and have played really hard on getting things I wanted and have a lot more hours to play before I am finished. I would buy more expansions and/or campaigns for GW1 and I hope that ANET will consider that in the future.
I don’t think we have been abandon with the new weapons being added into the game and there is always the chance that they may add more armor in the future (silver eagle armor for all classes).

Guild Wars isn't the only game on earth. There are better games e.g: the MGS series, GTA series, LoK etc... (yes, I still play GW).

For sure.
I mean, we've demanded so much since day one and they've barely paid attention! I mean, what reasonable company wouldn't make sure to keep every single fan happy and every demand met, regardless of the cost or time frame needed?
You're so right, aside from the fact that they've made on of the most enjoyable and successful ftp (post initial campaign purchase) online titles of all time, Anet suck balls!

I agree fully with ya we already bought the game so we have what we paid for.
But i wouldn't mind paying another 40 bucks to buy another campaign and/or a expansion.

Go to the game box.
Read: "The on-line content may change during the game".
Hm... now, sit and wait. Before the end of May you'll see something new.

I think that is a much better analogy. Like stretchs said, we got everything they said we would, ya we didn't get what we wanted but if that's not on the "menu" then we shouldn't complain about not getting stuff. They gave us what they said they would.

Lame.
Diablo II had many of the very baseline features that Guild Wars unforgivably lacks, and what it had wasn't even sufficient for online play back then, sometimes.
The OP's rant is just the same old crap, but don't defend ANET for failing to implement some very basic features that shouldn't have even required a second thought. Auction systems, reasonable party systems, a decent ignore/friends tool, and a decent amount of character customization are all very fundamental things in modern video games. That Guild Wars lacks any of those, much less that it lacks all of them, should be an enormous embarrassment to the people responsible for planning the game.
With any luck, they'll spend a little more time in GW2 merging the innovation of Guild Wars with it's crippling lack of decade-old standard features.

I think most of you missed the point of payments in GW.
We pay one time for a campaign, but that's because we were supposed to be getting 2 chapters in a year. So it would be almost like paying $ each month.
But on the other hand, WoW and other MMORPG players pay monthly fees, but they get much better games (at least at PvE) AND new contents each few weeks.
Plus, I wouldn't expect much from GW2. If they make it like GW, that is districts, closed worlds for each team and so on.... Then what's the point of calling it GW2? Just update the graphics, add new world and done.
If they make it like other MMORPG's, then they'll have to fight with existing titan, WoW, and soon-to-come titans like Aion or Age of Conan. And unless they have something hidden in their sleeve... Tough luck, GW2 will be forgotten. Or they will give us beta and we will see. Either it will be a success (WoW) or a failure (Fury).

Why should ANet care? They have your money, they're trying to attract more of it by working on the next game.
In earlier times, they would put out another Chapter to keep your interest, now they go to a new game which gives them a chance to correct a lot of fundamental errors with the game which couldn't be fixed in GW1.
Crying that you're not being given continual free content is absurd. Yes, there are a lot of things that could have been put in the game, that doesn't mean a game has to have them to be successful. Building up a new game gives them a chance to add those things and integrate them better.

The only sense in which I have felt "forsaken" is with regard to the complete lack of information about what ArenaNet is up to. I think that's pretty pathetic. I have no real complaints otherwise.
Guild Wars 1 is in maintenance mode; I accept that part just fine.
Right now, it's like Guild Wars and I have this long-distance relationship going on.
See, I get this note from Guilda, the one-time Love of my Life, telling me she's going away to have some serious surgery -- a complete makeover. I'm cool with that, really, since I know she's doing it JUST FOR ME.
But, what, you can't call? You can't write? For months and months and months?
Guilda, Honey. This makeover had better be pretty damn awesome. In the meantime, I have ... needs ... so I'm seeing Someone Else. Fortunately, Guilda and I have a very open relationship.

I think you missed some of the point, you're never forced to update the game with a new campaign. You could just buy, say, prophecies and the pvp unlock pack.
plus the fact that on release each Wow chapter costs pretty much the same as a new GWs chapter and you'll further see it's little like a monthly payment plan.

The innovations and mechanics of GWs I much prefer to WoW. I'm happy with the content, 'better' is subjective. You shouldn't throw it around as gospel.

Read up on the plans for GW2 before you QQ about this. Details indicate Anet plan to open up the world more and include elements of persistence.
GWs was always going to be something of a beta test and I doubt very much they've spent the last few years paying no attention to what their player base wants.

Anyway, it's the absolute truth. I haven't seen any sort of game that the OP has popped out, let alone this "perfect" game that he seems to want. If you don't think he wants a perfect game, perhaps you should check out to OP's thread in Sardelac. Ridiculous springs to mind. If the OP, or anybody for that matter, thinks they can do a better job, I challenge them to do just that. Go make the perfect game.
Find me a game that, from day one, people haven't wanted this, this or that feature because they don't think the game is good enough without it. That happens because everybody has different opinions on what makes a game good. Game developers, in a lot of cases, do what they can with what they have to please as many people as they can. It's still never good enough for some people.

There is no such thing as the perfect game for everybody. It's amazing that some people have differing opinions on what makes a game great, isn't it? I don't consider it unforgivable that GW doesn't have "basic" features, such as an auction house because it's just not something that I care about. The fact that you think it's unforgiveable is your opinion, I disagree, so I will defend them.
Direct your attention back to several posts in this thread. GW is incapable of supporting some of these "basic" functions in its current state. Hence the reason for a need for GW2. Until they develop a new game engine, there's absolutely nothing we can do about any lack of said features. So, sure, you can whine about how it's an imperfect game and it needs this or that or could be better or sucks completely, or you know... you could also just shut the hell up and stop playing the game. Go find another game and wait for GW2, or go find another game and don't wait for GW2. Nobody cares either way.
